Summer Dance Camp 2023

We held our Summer Dance Camp for the second year running, from 31st July until 9th August. We were absolutely delighted with how popular our camps are becoming - with lots of new faces joining us this time! Throughout the 6 days on camp children took part in:

Dance Classes

Children were able to take part in Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Jazz classes during the 6 days on camp. They were not only taught new routines and movements but they also got the opportunity to be choreographers themselves. Teamwork was essential when it came to creativity and dancers worked together in pairs and/or small groups to put their own short dance phrases together and then later showed these to the rest of the group!

Drama

During our Wizard of Oz week, we gave the children the task of writing their own scripts based on the story of the Wizard of Oz or they could write their own description of a character within the story. In groups the children then practiced their lines together and eventually performed their work in front of their peers.

Singing

Students were treated to 2 singing workshops led by our singing teacher, Miss Jess. These were such a hit! Children learnt songs from the popular film The Little Mermaid as well as a rendition of Katy Perry’s Roar. Miss Jess also had some surprises up her sleeve during some vocal warm ups and one that the children couldn’t get out of their heads was… The Lollipop Song! A big thank you to Miss Jess for these sessions which were a wonderful introduction for those that are interested in signing up to singing classes on Saturdays from September.

Arts & Crafts

These sessions are often our dance campers favourite part of dance camp, and this year was no different. Every day we had a different activity planned for the children who just simply LOVE to create! It was wonderful to see what their imagination allowed them to piece together. From mermaids to jelly fish, to lions full of courage and their own positive hot air balloons, our dance campers were so proud of their creations.

Games & Outdoor Free Play

It wouldn’t be a great camp without many team building games and some free play. It was in these moments that wonderful friendships were formed and it was so lovely to see all children smiling and just having a great time together. It’s great to see how much the children welcome those that are new to the group and show them the ropes.

A big thank you to those that made our Summer dance camp a success again this year - Miss Jess, Miss Isla, Miss Laura and of course thank you to the parents and guardians who continue to support NBS and our partner business The Dance Teacher London. We look forward to welcoming many of you back to dance camp in October 2023 (from 23/10 until 26/10).
